Celebrating Plurality - 19th July |
Monday 19th July we celebrated the 'plurality' between the parishes of Burghfield and Sulhamstead. This means that Revd Gill Lovell is now Rector of St Mary's Burghfield and Rector of St Mary's Sulhamstead Abbots and Bannister with Ufton Nervet. The celebrations were led by the Bishop of Reading, Rt Revd Stephen Cotterell, beginning with prayers at St Mary's Burghfield. A group then walked to St Mary's Sulhamstead, via Burghfield Common, culminating with a celebratory service of thanksgiving at Sulhamstead. The other ministers Revd Peter Dewey, Revd Anthony Peabody and Kevin Lovell are also now licensed to both parishes |

Minor Prophets |
Our Thursday evening housegroup has hit the pause button for the summer, but we'll be back in September. We meet on the first and third Thursdays each month and all are welcome (8:00pm at the Rectory). Restarting on 16th September we'll be continuing our look at the minor prophets from the bible's Old Testament: - 16th September: Micah - 7th October: tbc - 21st October: tbc These books are only short - the idea is we can read them before the evening, but don't worry if you don't manage it! |

Big Lunch - a million people can't be wrong |
We were blessed with fine weather for our Big Lunch on 18th July. Jointly organised by Burghfield Residents Association and St Mary's, we enjoyed good food, good company, cricket, football, a quiz and some highly entertaining team games. Thank you to everyone who helped organise the event and to all those who came. The Big Lunch is a nationwide initiative from the Eden Project in Cornwall and latest estimates indicate more than a million people took part across the UK. |
